LA to SD

I wanted to blog about this earlier, but moving has resulted in me not having consistent access to the Internet at the current time. The experience for me this go around couldn’t have possibly gone smoother. My brother and friend’s mom drove up to LA this past Saturday with the truck and their able bodies to assist me in my relocation. As it turns out, my roommate (who also happens to be the friend whose mom helped me) was also moving, although to a different place. The original plan was for both of us to move out of the house he was selling into a sweet condo he purchased down in Brentwood. West Los Angeles is the best part of town up there in my opinion, so needless to say I was looking forward to it. Life inevitably changes plans however, and in this case it was no different.

With mixed emotions I packed up all my personal possessions, which fit in a 12 foot Penske truck by the way, and headed 150 miles south to a beautiful, sleepy city called San Diego. LA has so much to offer in the way of everything you can possibly think of, from business opportunities to deserts to mountains to the Pacific Ocean. Of course San Diego has a lot of this too, but at the same time there is just a stronger buzz up there, more energy and a frentic pace of life. The diversity of people in LA is also unbelievable, with all walks of life represented – my buddies from work are Afghani, Ukrainian, Scottish, Persian, Flipiano, and Armenian, not to mention a bunch of American mutts like me.

But I regress. Because I lived with my brother before in the condo my parents own, there does exist some level of comfrot. In addition, my overhead has been cut dramatically and my commute as well (I hope). And albeit it’s been a number of years since I graduated high school, there remains a few decent friends that I’ve been able to maintain relationships with and who will probably never leave this place. Of course there are a plethora of reasons to support such a decision, but for me San Diego is a stepping stone to bigger and better things. Caifornia is cool, the United States is nice, but I’m talking Europa baby…maybe even Africa or Central and South America! The world is my oyster and while I’m still young and single I need to seize upon this tremendous opportunity. Fear is the only factor that is getting in my way; oh yeah, and one other small detail called money, but who needs that anyway ;-)
